Silvia Kantor started in cinema from a very young age, working with her parents, the Argentinian filmmakers María Esther Pallant and Óscar Kantor, who had settled in Peru. Silvia has experience in directing, producing, scriptwriting, editing, sound and preservation. This has allowed her to direct a series of short films, work on several productions and collaborate with different filmmakers. Currently, in addition to her teaching work, Silvia has dedicated herself to preserving part of the audiovisual work of her mother, María Esther Pallant, which can be found at the following link:

Moreover, she is preserving her own audiovisual work. In 2021 she won a fund from the Ministry of Culture to digitise and restore the collection of film newsreels ‘Noticiero Cultural Vicus’, made in the 1980s. In 2022, she restored her short films Reflejos en el vidrio, Sintonía and Némesis thanks to the state funding. In 2023, the project for the preservation of the Noticiero Cultural Vicus and the Noticiero Mujer hoy was one of the beneficiaries of the National Competition for Audiovisual Preservation Projects. The newsreels, an important part of Silvia Kanor’s work, will soon be available.
