I dared to sit down and check what my boss had done with the script of the commercial. On the side it said: image-sound. He had made a mark that signified the need of a cut with a pencil, I made the cut and spliced it together. In that moment my boss arrived, and I stood quietly as if I had not done anything, then he looked it over and realised that I had made the cut. He looked at me and said: finish it. So, I started to follow the script and the sequence of images, with the audio as a guide. By the end of the month, I had become the editing manager.

Arca (2022) says that: “As well as her extensive work as an editor, Chicón was also a fundamental member of social organisations that group together audiovisual workers, of the feminist movement and of the Latin community in Portland and Main where she currently lives.” Link.

The series Nosotros, We the Peopleis a monthly video magazine on the Spanish speaking community in Maine (USA) that Victoria Chicón produced and realised for the Community Television Network of Portland. In 2022, thanks to the Maine Art Commission scholarship, Victoria began the project to digitise her work as a documentarist in Maine over twenty years.
